Having turned a desperate relegation scrap into dreams of competing with the sides above, Holloway has helped to turn Town’s campaign around and set them up for the future.
Fan have been clamouting for the 62-year-old to be given a new contract and he has been in negotiations over one since January and now he has agreed to a three-year deal.
Having signed the contract this morning, the former Blackpool went on Talksport and announced that he would be staying with Swindon.
He said: “Glenn Hoddle did it [took Swindon to the Premier League], Osi Ardilles, Paolo Di Canio, they are legends here and they have had some great things.
“We are nowhere near where we should be for the size of the club, I have just signed my new contract for three years, so they are going to have to put up with me for three years if I can last that long.
“We are at the bottom of the pyramid and we have got to do something about it.
“The fans have had all sorts of stick for 15 years now and I want to try and bring some good times. We are nowhere near doing that.
"I am trying to get them [the players] to understand what a big responsibility it is to be at this football club."
Although Holloway has signed the contract, the club has yet to announce it as there is still some rubber stamping to do, but he will now be at the helm for the next three seasons.
Even though he had not fully agreed to a new deal until today, Holloway had already been planning for the long-term future of the club and his vision for where the club should be going was key in the negotiations.
Agreeing to this new contract demonstrates that assurances on his vision have been given and he will now have the power to execute it over the next three years.
He said last week: "I am looking at making sure that we get the right things in place and if I have the right things to do it with.
“I am planning for a lot longer than next year.
“All of these things take some planning and that is all that I am doing, I am not planning on not being here next year at all.
“All of that is nonsense with what everyone else wants to think, ‘Why haven’t you done this?’ Why are you adding two and two and getting 500?
“It is not about that and I would not have said what I wanted to do if I didn’t mean it, so it is only a matter of time.
“In the meantime, we are still doing all sorts of things to make sure that we are in the right place and polishing and shining as sometimes you need to get the dirt off first.”
