When Alabama hired Kalen DeBoer from Washington, many expected a high-flying offense led by the quarterback and an elite group of wide receivers.
Running the football wasn't at the center of DeBoer's offense in Seattle, and it showed with the Crimson Tide's inconsistent rushing attack in 2024. That is something that DeBoer knows must improve and he is attempting to upgrade at the running back position through high school recruiting. On Monday, the Crimson Tide received word that five-star running back Ezavier Crowell will be visiting Tuscaloosa on Saturday for A-Day. The Jackson, Alabama native is ranked as a five-star recruit and the No. 2 running back in the country according to The 247Sports Composite.
The 5-foot-11 205-pound running back ran for 1,964 rushing yards and 31 rushing touchdowns to go along with 258 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns. Crowell had this to say about the Crimson Tide. "Growing up, used to watch them a lot," Crowell said. "It is definitely a top school for me. I see myself playing in Crimson soon. But it comes down to how they would develop me as a person, player, and everything else."
Alabama is battling four other schools for Crowell with Florida State, Auburn, Texas and Georgia all scheduling official visits with the top prospect. On June 20, Crowell will be making his official visit to Tuscaloosa. In the 2026 recruiting class, the Crimson Tide has four commitments highlighted by five-star cornerback Jorden Edmonds.
Alabama's four-man class also included four-star defensive back Zyan Gibson, four-star EDGE Jamarion Matthews, and four-star interior offensive lineman Chris Booker.
