Sporting Kansas City’s start to the 2025 season has been anything but conventional. Saturday marks the team’s home opener in MLS regular-season play, yet it will already be Sporting’s fourth competitive match. Despite the early action, the team is still searching for its first win.

As the club continues to emphasize the importance of growth and rebuilding, there is also a call for patience with the current squad. However, expectations remain high, as Sporting KC still aims to be competitive throughout the 2025 campaign. While the team may not yet look like a top-four contender in the conference, the hope is that it will at least secure a playoff spot, even if it takes time to build momentum.

The roster has undergone significant changes, with nine new players joining the squad this season. Among them are three attacking signings acquired for $9 million, as well as three academy products under the age of 20. With so many fresh faces, Sporting KC is focused on development while maintaining the ambition to compete at a high level.
